Having just read the latest Ultra VW I thought id send in pic and details on my wife Michelle's new Bug .
After her ’S became too rotten to keep we decided a new Bug was needed, so we purchased this 1957 Cyprus import.
With help from my bro and friends I got started - I got the car completely stripped (as it had been rolled after coming to the UK in 2000 and needed a new roof) so we did a total ground up resto.
The chassis was rebuilt with adjustable front and rear suspension and all new running gear including a GT Beetle gearbox and a 1641cc engine with Engle W110 cam ,full flow case with remote filter and lightened followers.
The body has a donor roof from a ’59 and I bought some second hand doors to replace the rusted originals. There's a fibreglass bonnet and wings. Oh and we added some personal details here and there and then painted it purple and pink (with metalflake in the pink) as its Michelle's favourite colour (and her old 1303 looked similar).
The interior had to match the car, so that too is pink and purple. Empi 5s were added to finish her, and the whole build took around 6 months in my garage (where it was painted by my bro adey)
PS now we have a little baby girl we have some one to pass it on to!
cheers Phil (of Phil's VW Chop Shop)
