My name is Reuben and I'm emailing from Darwin Australia with pics and
information on my 1968 custom vw beetle.
The car was purchased as a 'rough' 1/2 finished project and has taken the
best part of 3 years to fully rebuild.
The body has a host of modifications including a 4" roof chop, widened
fibreglass rear fenders, a one piece fibreglass tilt front, a purpose made
aluminium rear wing to house the huge PWR intercooler in and a carbon fibre
W decklid.
The engine upgrade includes the installation of a 2lt Subaru quad cam wrx
turbo engine that is running 2 injectors per cylinder, haltech ecu, IHI VF23
bearing turbo, GFB aluminium pulley set, turbosmart supersonic blow of valve
and eboost electronic boost controller, custom polished stainless steel
intake pipes and custom 3" polished stainless steel exhaust system.
The drivetrain upgrade includes the installation of a 1989 Porsche G50
transaxle, Porsche 930 CV joints, custom Romac billet axles, custom
adjustable AVO coil over rear suspension, rear disc brake conversion and
modified drive flanges.
Interior alterations include full Autometer ProComp dash, custom aluminium
console housing tacho, shift and oil pressure lights, Greddy turbo timer and
PLX Sevices air fuel meter, Custom wiring panels, custom 4 point roll cage,
re-fabricated fire wall and parcel shelf, removal of rear seat, relocation of
front seats further back 8", installation of modern hanging pedal assembly
including hydraulic clutch.
Under bonnet alteration include the installation of an adjustable front
beam, cross drilled rotors, custom wiring panel, spun aluminium fuel cell
and a custom radiator/tilt front support.
Other modification include installation of NACA ducts in the rear windows
and 16x7.5" front and 16x9.5" rear alloy wheels.
The car is yet to be dyno'd but reasonable estimates are being made with
maximum boost to be set at 18lb.

I hope you like my ride,

Cheers,
Reub
