Here is my 1985 VW T25 Crewcab Pickup, I hope you like it. It started off life as a 1.6 turbo diesel brickies wagon but that all changed once I got my hands on it.
With my Bay looking very sorry for itself, I needed a vehicle to go on holiday in (big enough to carry the surfboards etc) and the Crewie seemed like the best option. However, having spent the next couple of months sorting the bodywork out and painting it, I only managed about 15 miles before the engine expired!
So back in the garage a plan was hatched along the lines of "how about stuffing a GTi engine in it?", so I purchased a Scirocco GTX, pulled the engine out and fitted it into the Transporter. Surprisingly, itt was quite an easy job... well, apart from forgetting to put a spigot bearing in the end of the crank/flywheel!
However, it all came together in the end and it recently took us on holiday with our Buggy 'in-tow'. When we got back it went straight off to Mick Frewer and had the interior retrimmed, and more recent additions include the later square headlamps and the roll hoop in the back.
Who knows, it may get yet another engine swap of some kind in the future, but for now it Rocks!
